Hi Akash,

AI does not have a frequent flyer relationship with A3, so the number will be rejected by the system. It would be nice if ClearTrip displayed just AI’s partners instead of every FFP they serve, but I guess that’s difficult when there are so many (constantly changing) relationships.

Regarding AI – I just booked a ticket on the BLR-DEL-BLR sector for the Dreamliner flight. In Cleartrip, it asked my for my FFP number. There was a dropdown with Agean Airlines in it.
Does this mean what I think it means? Can I dock Indian airlines miles on Agean? (on not just singapore airlines?)

Good points. Jet has gone for codeshares with certain carriers, for example Qatar who has limited India rights and to a multitude of carriers at SIN and KUL (most notably Qantas and Malaysian Airlines).

If we can’t have a hub in India, why can’t Jet feed regional Indian destinations to international hubs proactively before carriers like SilkAir poach them (e.g. Vizag, Coimbatore).

There are still plenty of opportunities for Jet. Trichy/Pune/Nagpur/Bhopal to DOH/SIN/KUL 3 weekly with a QR/QantasJetstar/MH codeshare would be fabulous for Jet . Yields would be decent as international fuel is cheaper and its only a 3-4 hour flight on Jet’s end which helps with utilization.

Heck, at least just slap a QR codeshare on Jet’s existing DOH-BOM for added capacity.

Getting delivery of one each week for the next four weeks would be pretty huge, both for Air India and also for Boeing. I know that Boeing has been trying to get deliveries out the door lately and they think the aircraft are mostly ready to go but they’ve still had issues with actually making it happen. Hopefully it really starts to take shape. After all, there are a lot of aircraft waiting to take to the skies.

The fact is with Jet emerging as the predominant FSC in India, both LH and SQ are uneasy about having it on board.
Jet is probably just preempting them before they shut the door.
It will be interesting to see if AI welcomes back Star and If Star is still interested in AI.

All that politicians in India care about is, MAKING MONEY & HOW TO CONTINUE TO STAY IN POWER TO MAKE MORE MONEY.
There is no loyalty towards their own country, forget about any airline. They are such a vicious breed, that they are ready to sell their mothers if they have to.
Please do not try to find reason behind any move by any airline. The only motive behind any decision is restricted to making money for these shameless breed of politicians.
We the citizens of this Banana Republic are just mere spectators & aid in contributing to the coffers which are waiting to be plundered by these politicians who will put dacoits to shame…
